Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
In the english department we read the fabulous book "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson, written in 1886 which tells the history of two men in one body. Such imaginary idea oddly enough had great recognizment for both critics and audience, it has become a classic by now and it seems its popularity could last for way more time. Some biographers say that he was on drugs (cocaine especifically) while rewriting the story.
This incredible book is clearly one of the most misterious storylines in Stevenson's career, since it is based on the double personality syndrome. It's very weird to see the main character switching one way to another in a second. The story is about a man who is a very nice doctor who is etremely nice and always good with everyone. But there is a problem with Dr. Jekyll, he has a dark side that comes out whenever it wants. He calls him Mr. Hyde and he is described as the pure evil someone could hold.
The difference between the two sides of the same person are represented. Dr. Jekyll is described as a very handsome, tall man and Mr. Hyde is painted as a small, fat, ugly man. Their personalities are the opposite: Jekyll is a good man and Hyde is a wild man that likes to act irrationally and has dangerous impulses that harm people around him.
